COUNTERING THE MASS SHOOTER THREAT

The increase in mass shootings such as the tragedies that occurred during the Columbine High School Massacre and Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting have resulted in a series of impulsive legislation by our elected politicians. Regulations such as decreases to magazine sizes, weapon bans, and gun free zones are nothing, but feel-good measures set by our legislators and do nothing in preventing future acts of evil. Our Countering the Mass Shooter course dismisses these futile measures and examines how they are counterproductive against preventing such tragic events from reoccurring in the future.

Our discussion will cover how to observe the physiological and physical warning signs of a potential mass shooter. We will conduct an in-depth analysis and dissect real data through video, discussion, and comparisons between historic mass shooting events. We will also cover developing a plan to secure a place of work, church, or school based on the most current methodologies such as the run, hide, or fight concept that can be passed along to co-workers, parishioners, and students.

In addition, we will also discuss the special considerations needed to integrate a plan for an armed response to an active shooter. We highly recommend that anyone interested in preparing for a defensive response enroll in our Before You Carry & Defend course before considering implementing a plan of their own. Throughout this course, we will go over the realities of a mass shooting event and cover the many of the fundamentals taught in our Patriot Trauma Care to treat others from potentially fatal wounds.

We will also focus on helping you develop your own plan against a mass shooter threat. Students are welcome to bring their existing active shooter response plan to review in class
