Kyle is Finally Free - For Now
After being unconstitutionally detained for four months after being declared a “dangerous” person by the courts, Kyle Culotta walks a free man – for now. (See Kyle’s Story at www.FreeKyle.org)
Kyle’s only crime was crossing the Massachusetts state line with firearms he legally purchased in Arizona. Because he did not have a Massachusetts license, which post Bruen should only be an administrative matter, the Commonwealth tried to destroy his life. Great thanks to all the folks that answered the call to at least get Kyle out bail.
"Post Bruen nothing like this should ever happen in the United States," said Mike Harris, GOAL's Director of Public Policy. "It just shows how the entire Massachusetts government, all three branches, have put lawful gun owners under siege -especially if you don't live here. I'm beyond happy Kyle is finally out on bail and am infinitely impressed once again by Attorney Hagan and his legal team."
“Today, Kyle breathes free air. A decorated Air Force veteran with a spotless record and a good heart, he should never have been treated like a criminal for simply exercising his constitutional rights,” said Attorney Dan Hagan. “What happened to him is a stain on our justice system — one that punishes good people instead of protecting them. His release on bail marks the end of one battle, but the beginning of another. We now move into the second phase, the case in chief, where we will fight relentlessly to secure a just outcome for Kyle and his family.”
Kyle’s attorney, Dan Hagan, will now have to prepare for his pretrial hearing scheduled in December. This will give us a clear picture of precisely what criminal charges he will face. GOAL will continue to pursue the constitutional issues involved such as the misuse of the dangerous statute and the constant attack on nonresidents.
Thanks again to everyone who helped accomplish this first step.
