The law of self-defense includes statutory law, case law and jury instructions.  Case studies are an effective strategy for LTC citizens to learn the law through real-world examples.  The case studies presented during this KNOW THE LAW session will provide LTC citizens with the opportunity to both apply their knowledge of the law of self-defense or to learn about the law of self-defense via the real-world use of force. Case studies represent a practical and effective way to better understand any subject and thus the law of self-defense.  As true in many fields of study, we learn through the experiences and often through the mistakes of others.  Learning through case studies provide us with the opportunity to apply, analyze and evaluate situations – all of which are considered to be the highest forms of learning.  Focus of this session is on Massachusetts law.
