GOAL’s Freedom Rising Summer Banquet.
Saturday June 18th Boxborough, MA
Let’s face it, Massachusetts, once a cradle of democracy has become something that the founding fathers would find unrecognizable. That doesn’t stop GOAL or our members and we gathered on a warm summer night to celebrate Freedom Rising.
The ground swell, emanating from the core members and out through the social media waves of the internet is spreading, and the core members of Gun Owners’ Action League joined together to learn more, get charged up, and to continue in the fight to resurrect freedom and our Second Amendment rights.
There were raffles, and auctions, awards and speakers, dinner with friends, airguns to shoot, and people to meet. The night started off, for those that chose, at the Presidents reception with a chance to mingle with many of the GOAL board of directors, and our special guests Executive V.P. of the NRA, Wayne LaPierre, and NRA Radio personality Cam Edwards. Later it was on to the great room for some mingling, or perhaps a chance to take on one of the members of the MA Junior Air Pistol team in a target shooting competition, many member lost, those kids are good!
The speakers were great, Asst. House Minority Leader George Peterson spoke of the challenges in dealing with MA legislators, how best to get legislation passed, and how he looks forward to seeing MA begin the restoration of Second Amendment rights for MA citizens.
He was followed by Wayne LaPierre. Wayne touched on many national issues, expressed his frustration with the Obama administration and really focused on the BATFE-Mexican cartel scandal which is sure to rock Washington DC in the following days. His presentation left most of the crowd stunned, many had no idea how things along our southern border have become, his short film and speech were eye opening to say the least, at the conclusion the crowd came to its feet and many were still talking about it hours later.
Next, the awards; Andy Meade was presented with the GOAL Cup Black Powder award which was accepted for him by Donny Kusser. Next, Nancy Snow presented
her namesake “Women Activist of the Year” award to Carmen “Dee” Bonney. Then last but not least GOAL’s own Jon Green was presented with a very special award by Jim Wallace and Wayne LaPierre. With his family looking on, Jon was presented a flintlock musket as an award for his continued work with the shooting sports community and for his years of service with Gun Owners’ Action League.
Some great deals were had next at our auction, and then the night came to a close. GOAL would like to thank everyone that helped with the event; especially our volunteers who helped make the event possible. We look forward to victory in restoring freedom and civil rights to the commonwealth, with our membership leading the way, we are confident that it’s just a matter of time.
