MA Attorney General Responds to GOAL’s Request for
Investigation
As our members know,
Gun Owners’ Action League sent a letter in early March
to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. In that
letter, GOAL asked the AG to investigate the illegal
licensing activities taking place around the
Commonwealth (see:
GOAL
Requests Massachusetts Attorney General to Intervene in
Illegal Licensing Activities).
In what can only be
interpreted as good news, the AG’s office has contacted
GOAL and informed us that they are going through the
package that we sent them. The Office also asked us to
forward them any other evidence of illegal licensing
activities to help them determine how wide spread these
problems are.
To assist the AG in
their investigation, GOAL is requesting that our members
forward us any information regarding illegal licensing
activities taking place in the city or town. These could
include:
-
Any fees charged over the $100
statutory limit,
-
Any non-standard application not
provided by the state,
-
Any letters of references or
doctor’s letters (Letters are not required by law
and actually violates M.G.L. Chapter 66, Section 10,
see below.)
-
Additional safety courses not
required by law (Some towns are apparently forcing
citizens to only take the course provided by the
town.)
-
Or any other illegal additions to
the application process.
Please send any documentation or evidence of such wrong
doings to the GOAL office so that we can compile it and
forward it on to the Attorney General’s office. Send any
information to:
