GOAL at the Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp
Decades of Dedication to Education, Safety, and Outdoor Heritage

For decades, the Gun Owners’ Action League (GOAL) has proudly supported the Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp (MJCC) — a program dedicated to teaching the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts, conservationists, and responsible gun owners.
Each summer, one hundred youths from across the Commonwealth come together at MJCC to learn essential skills — from firearm safety and archery to wildlife conservation, boating, and outdoor survival. GOAL’s instructors and volunteers have been a constant presence at the camp, sharing their expertise and passion while fostering a culture of safety, responsibility, and respect for the outdoors.
My upcoming speech for the Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC), titled “Advocacy Through Action – The Future Is Watching,” draws inspiration from my experience at MJCC. GOAL’s involvement ensures campers leave not only with technical skills, but also with the confidence and knowledge to make safe, informed decisions — both on and off the range.
This year marked my first year at the camp as Jon Green’s assistant shotgun instructor, and it was an amazing experience — not only as a GOAL staff member, but also as an advocate and instructor. I saw the camp from a whole new perspective: watching each camper come through the shotgun line, moving between programs, and witnessing their growth firsthand.
At first, many kids approached the range uncertain and nervous, but by the end, their faces lit up with joy and pride. Beyond firearm training, they also gained a deeper appreciation for conservation and outdoor heritage. GOAL staff worked side by side with campers, helping them build confidence, develop leadership skills, and understand the importance of preserving traditions.
This partnership with MJCC isn’t just about teaching skills — it’s about planting seeds. Many campers take their experiences home, sharing safety lessons with their families and continuing their education. Some even go on to careers in wildlife management, instruction, advocacy, or legislation. That ripple effect is why GOAL’s support of MJCC remains so critical.
GOAL is committed to supporting MJCC and other youth programs that invest in our future. By educating today’s youth, we safeguard tomorrow’s traditions — ensuring that hunting, fishing, shooting sports, and conservation remain a vital part of Massachusetts’ culture.
Together, we are building safer communities, stronger traditions, and the next generation of responsible outdoorspeople.
