Surveillance Program, 1999 Residents Treated & Released from
Emergency Rooms Report, Massachusetts’ citizens are:

times more likely to be cut or stabbed,

times more likely to be injured in an automobile accident,

times more likely to be hospitalized from overexertion,

times more likely to be poisoned,

times more likely to be burned,

times more likely to be injured in a bicycle accident,

times more likely to be bitten by a dog,

than
they are being injured by a firearm.
