Massachusetts Online Firearm Portal to be Part of Much Bigger System

In recent conversations with some folks in the Massachusetts government concerning the new online firearm registration portal, we were made aware of a new statewide government system. As this was the first time we had heard of this, we inquired further and were told that the state is setting up a system where every citizen will need to set up a digital account with the Commonwealth. Through that account you will be able to access every aspect of interacting with the state government.

The new system is called the “Commonwealth Digital Road Map”: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/about-the-commonwealth-digital-roadmap

According to the webpage it is designed to:

“…provide accessible, simple, and secure digital experiences that adapt to a person’s needs, so that every time they engage with any part of their government, they're getting the most and best of the Commonwealth.”

The webpage goes on to explain “Our Values” and “Strategy”.

We are not exactly sure how all of the state’s departments will be integrated, or how the system will learn more about you every time it is used, but we thought we wanted to make our members aware of how they will be required to interact with the Commonwealth in the future. This is all we know for now, once we get further information about the new system we will most certainly pass it along.
