Connecticut Single Mom, Gun Owner Faces Felony Gun Charges in Massachusetts

Connecticut Single Mom Gun Owner Faces Felony Gun Charges in Massachusetts

In what is becoming an all too familiar story in Massachusetts, yet another innocent non-resident is facing felony gun charges in Massachusetts.

Recently Attorney Dan Hagan contacted GOAL about another non-resident caught up in Massachusetts’s vendetta against the 2A community. In this case, a single mom who lawfully owned a firearm in her home state of Connecticut was traveling through Massachusetts. After she was involved in a hit and run accident, she was put in a neck brace and rushed to the hospital by ambulance. As a result, law enforcement was forced to tow the car and, per protocol, conduct an inventory search. After finding a firearm in the vehicle, police were dispatched to her hospital bed and presented a summons for three gun charges while she lay injured: possession of a firearm without a Massachusetts license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and improper firearm storage.

The woman, who is not only a victim of a hit and run, has now fallen victim to the State’s unconstitutional scorched earth, one-size-fits-all policies against the Second Amendment community post Bruen.

“According to the Attorney, this person is a single mom, nurse, two-time cancer survivor with no criminal record,” said Jim Wallace Executive Director of Gun Owners' Action League. “It has become very clear that there is a coordinated effort from all three branches of Massachusetts government to destroy anyone who dares to exercise the Second Amendment. Apparently, we are all just felons in waiting.”

Several attorneys have informed GOAL that local district attorneys have directly announced that moving forward they will treat every firearm possession issue exactly the same: with no mercy or consideration of circumstances. Whether you are a gang member with multiple violent crime convictions or a responsible gun owner who gets hit by a car forcing you to leave your gun behind, the commonwealth doesn’t care.

GOAL is currently not involved in this particular case.
