GOAL Sponsors the 3rd Annual Cabin Fever Dinner Dance

A great night for GOAL

This past Saturday night, May 12, 2012 GOAL was lucky enough to once again be a sponsor of the 3rd Annual Cabin Fever Dinner Dance held at the Ron Burton Training Village in Hubbardston MA. The event which raised money for New England Patriot – Matt Light’s Light Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, and the Ron Burton Training Village was a resounding success.

GOAL President Jay Beard was a driving force in the event, ensuring it was well organized, and flawlessly produced. Jay was also the guest auctioneer and helped emcee the event. This was great as Jay on numerous occasions spoke of GOAL and our mission to protect and defend the Second Amendment Rights of the citizens of Massachusetts.

The event, featuring music by The Otters, a great spread of food, and adult liquid refreshment supplied in part by Narragansett Beer and Cabin Fever Whiskey had lots of moments of levity, amongst them was key note speaker Matt Light of the New England Patriots who, while introducing the Patriots Players in attendance drew a mental blank on the name of Zoltan Mesko, the punter for the team. The players got quite a kick out of that and I’m pretty sure Zoltan won’t let Matt live that down for a long time.

One great thing about events like this is the raffle prizes that can be won, this was no exception, there was a slew of them, one of which, a pellet gun, was won by Patriot Nate Solder. Nate, a country boy from the Rockies was all smiles as he went up for his new prize and I’m guessing that the squirrels in his neighborhood now have something to fear. Another great thing about events like this; the auction items! This was no exception as there were some incredible hunting opportunities up for grabs, as well as some real nice firearms.

All in all, the event was once again a resounding success, a pile of money was raised for 3 great charities, a good meal was had, prizes were won and new friends were made. Best of all GOAL was able to spread the word about the challenges we face, and our mission. Look for more events like this from GOAL going forward.

Thanks to Matt Light and all at the Light Foundation, Margrette and JoJo from the Goodwin Group, Ron Burton, Steve Burton and the staff of the Burton Training Village, Ray Ilg from Ducks Unlimited, Julie Robillard from Cabin Fever Whiskey, and everyone else involved in ensuring the success of the event. We are looking forward to the 4th annual already!

While Matt was introducing the Patriots in attendance, he completely blanked Zoltan Mesko's name, it was pretty funny.
