GOAL to
Host 1st Annual Antlerless Deer Drawing and Game Recipe
Contest
Thursday, July 31, 2008
Lenox Sportsmen's Club
Gun Owners' Action League is pleased to announce the 1st
Annual Antlerless Deer Drawing and Game Recipe Contest
to be held on July 31, 2008 at the Lenox Sportsmen's
Club. Every year the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries
and Wildlife holds a drawing to determine who will
receive an Antlerless Deer permit for particular hunting
zones throughout the state. This year (2008) GOAL
stepped forward and offered to make an event out of the
drawing process much like the organization has done with
the Division's annual waterfowl hearings held every
August.
The night's schedule:
5:00 - 7:00: Recipe sampling and voting
7:00: Presentation by DFW staff on 2007 Deer Harvest
Review, Explanation of the Antlerless Permits and
Questions and Answer period on Massachusetts whitetail
deer management.
7:45: Antlerless Permit Drawings conducted by the Lenox
Sportsmen's Club Junior Shooters
The Awarding of the Recipe Contest Winners will take
place after the conclusion of the presentation and
permit drawings.
At this year's drawing event GOAL is starting what we
hope to become an annual contest for those who consider
their game recipes to be some of the best. For this first
year we are going to start simple with two categories:
1. Game Chili
2. Game Stew
Click to download recipe contest entry form and
instructions or email
angelafisher@goal.org for more information.
The winner of each category will be determined by by
ballots distributed to all of those in attendance. Event
attendees are invited to sample and vote for their
favorite recipes from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Winners will
receive a plaque and a $50.00 gift card to Dick's
Sporting Goods. There is an entry fee of $10 per recipe
for GOAL members, $15 for non-GOAL members entered into
the contest. All proceeds from this event will benefit
The
Massachusetts Junior Conservation Camp. There is no
charge for general attendance, but we will gratefully
accept donations for the camp. We hope to have a good
turn out for this first event and hope that everyone
will come and vote for their favorite game recipes.
If you plan
